The Buckskinners Muzzleloading Association Limited was formed in 1978, originally with 8 members, of which we have 3 remaining charter members. Over the years we have grown and now have upwards of 50 members.
The Purpose of the Club is to promote good, safe marksmanship and sportsmanship.
Our Aims & Objectives are to encourage and promote knowledge and its application in the proper care, handling and enjoyment in the science of black powder shooting, whether in competition or otherwise.
Our Range is located at 2493, Route 490, Indian Mountain (on McLaughlin Road), approximately 7 miles north of Moncton, New Brunswick
Our Chief Range Officer is responsible to ensure safe shooting practices on the Range, including the establishing and publication of safe range rules and procedures, and ensuring all Range Officers are properly trained. We have 12 Members who are qualified Range Officers.
Active Membership is open to any individual who is interested and makes application in actively promoting the aims and objectives of The Club. Membership fee is $60.00 single,
$80.00 for family of two, and $20.00 for those 18 and under.
Our Club meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Bud & Kathleen McConnell's home at the entrance to the Range. Our regular shoots are scheduled for the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. at our range.
Officers/Directors of the Club are:
President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, Membership Chair, All Chartered Members,
Chief Range Officer, and Historian.
Election of officers is held every two years in December.
Our summer rendezvous is held each summer with details further on this site. We also travel to shoots put on by other clubs in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
During the shoots, some club members dress in clothing common to different time periods in the era of black powder firearms.
We shoot paper targets at 100 yds., 50 yds., and 25 yds. We also shoot novelties and other targets at 75yds. and 15yds. Other related activities include knife and hawk, primitive archery, black powder cartridge, and primitive/period camping and woods skills.
So, if you have ever wondered what great-great-grandfather hunted with, how he started a campfire using flint and steel, what gun he used down at the 'ol shooting match, what a percussion cap is, how a flint ignition works, how to carve a powder horn, or anything pertaining to muzzle-loading firearms, contact us. Meanwhile, have a look around our site and see what we're all about.
